Rhonda was born in Moree (NSW), one of nine children. Her father was English and her mother a descendent of the Kamilaroi people. Rhonda was forcibly removed from her family at 10 years of age and grew up in the Tweed area, and has always enjoyed painting. In 1985 a local elder introduced Rhonda to a traditional contemporary method of painting, and this combined with a love of nature and animals inspired her to formulate many of the themes in her work. Intricate dot work and varied colours combined to create a stunning effect which emphasizes the natural curves of the pieces being painted. Rhonda's work has been exhibited in galleries and also sold to all parts of the world. Rhonda was one of three artists to participate in a place making project, planning an Indigenous park in the Tweed area. Her most recent success is the decision by the ANZ Bank to include a painting by Rhonda in their new release bank transaction cards. She has enjoyed encouragement from her family and friends to pursue her painting career. Rhonda prefers to work with acrylics and has wonderful artistic ability, which is highlighted by the way she contrasts traditional style with contemporary colours which gives her connection to her ancestors...
